The Fiord Faba Bean was released in 1982. This variety was selected for it's wide adaptation, high yields and seed size suitable to be sown and harvested by conventional cereal machinery. The faba bean is a staple source of protein around parts of the Mediterranean, the Red Sea perimeter, China and Brazil. Elsewhere it is moslty grown for animal feed. They are also known as: Fava bean, horse bean, tick bean, windsorbean, feverole, ful medames, ful masri and kacang babi.
